Medina has his Master in Business Administration from the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (2009). He is an agronomist from Escuela Agrícola Panamericana EL ZAMORANO (2003).
As an engineer, Medina has more than 24 years of experience in the management of banana cultivation, he is currently the technical director of production for the Agricultural Division of Noboa Corporation (Ecuador). He was technical manager of REYBANPAC (Rey Banano del Pacífico-Ecuador),
Medina has experience in the management of banana farms, soil management and nutrition for bananas, design of irrigation and drainage systems, management of Black Sigatoka, member of the FRAC (Fungicide Resistance Action Committee), banana pests and diseases, management systems of the quality of the fruit on the farm and at destination, and application of biotechnology for agriculture. He has served as a consultant for important companies in the banana industry in Ecuador, Colombia and Central America.
